Ms. Byrd has been practicing law for nearly 20 years. She has a strong litigation background and concentrates her practice in all areas of family law litigation. Sandi handles complex family law matters, including marital and civil union dissolutions, maintenance and child support issues, custody issues, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, asset identification and allocation, post-decree matters, orders of protection, and allegations of abuse or neglect. Sandi has extensive courtroom experience. She has argued thousands of motions and has tried hundreds of cases to verdict both in front of juries and judges.
Sandi has lectured for bar associations throughout Illinois and has served as a lecturer and moderator for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. She has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Aurora Beacon News, Elgin Courier, The Daily Herald, and the Kane County Chronicle. Sandi has served as the chair of multiple bar association committees, as a section member of both local and state bar association committees and as general counsel for the Kane County Bar Foundation.
Ms. Byrd has been recognized by her peers as a Leading Lawyer in Illinois each year since 2011, including being named to multiple Top 10 lists.
Sandi is actively involved in her community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Alliance of Local Service Organizations and volunteers with Honor Flight. Sandi has previously served on the Board of Trustees for Hesed House and the Kane County Bar Foundation and has volunteered her time for multiple other nonprofit organizations
