Reynard Tanig represents clients with their estate planning, probate and business matters. Rey has extensive experience in planning and administering estates, including preparing and filing estate, inheritance, and gift tax returns for individuals with assets, heirs and beneficiaries both in the U.S. and abroad.
With over 30 years of experience, he assists U.S. citizens, resident non-citizens, and non-resident non-citizens in the preparation of effective estate plans.
He has substantial experience with complex estate planning and charitable planning, involving dynasty trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILIT), qualified domestic trusts (QDOT), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRT), grantor retained annuity trusts (GRAT), charitable lead and remainder trusts (CLT/CRT), private foundations, intentionally defective grantor trusts and family limited partnerships.
Rey has successfully litigated trust, estate, and guardianship disputes in chancery court and probate court. He has also advocated for clients in audits with the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities. He helps clients with asset protection planning, including the formation of different types of business entities such as corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships.
Active in the community, Rey is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council, Chicago Filipino American Lawyers Association, the National Filipino American Lawyers Association, the Asian American Bar Association (Chicago), the Japanese American Bar Association and the National Asian Pacific Bar Association.
